What I'm working on.....

9.28.2010

This is my new baby, and therefore my new project. This antique china cabinet was going for super cheap on ebay and I snatched it right up for a Buy it Now price, since there were a bunch of inquiries about it. Below are the two pieces, and I am going to paint them both and put wallpaper on the back wall of the cabinet.

It's absolutely gorgeous, but does need work. It has it's original mid century paint and this gross green putty inside the cabinet. Yuck! Maybe it was used to hold down objects displayed inside? Who knows. It's been a pain to get off, I can tell you that much! These are a few photos from my inspiration folder that came to mind when I purchased it...

My original idea was to paint it a glossy pale gray with a yellow floral wallpaper inside, probably with a metallic gold in it. Then I realized it wasn't the most guy-friendly combo and I have to keep my man in mind! I think I've settled on black glossy paint and a black floral Designer's Guild wallpaper inside the cabinet.... something that we both will love! I'll be posting pictures soon when it's closer to done!

Faux Bamboo Chandeliers

3.10.2010

I'm moving soon, so I have many thoughts swimming through my head about how I'm going to decorate the new place. I have lots of lamps but have never bought any actual light fixtures such as chandeliers or sconces, since I've always been a renter. Luckily my current apartment has gorgeous ceiling fixtures.... Yet unfortunately I can't take them with me .... Thus my hunt for chandeliers begins. I've really been into the faux bamboo chandliers lately, especially the pagoda-shaped ones. Anything faux-bamboo and Chinoiserie-esque is good in my book! Ebay always has gorgeous ones, very similar to the ones on 1st Dibs that they charge an arm and a leg for.

New Thomas Paul Line for Duralee

2.27.2010

Many of you are probably familiar with Thomas Paul's line of fabric for Duralee, even if you don't know that you are. Urban Outfitters and Target both carry upholstered furniture covered in prints from his first line.

Athens Chaise Settee in Smoke from Target

Last week I received an email from Decorati announcing the arrival of the new line, Thomas Paul 2. I felt an immediate rush of excitement from how gorgeous it all was! The fabrics are incredible and vibrant, with even more detail than his first line. Here are a few from the Decorati website, and I think they all run about $49.50 per yard.
